Azulbahia Turismo Ltda CNPJ 09.538.098/0001-00 Embratur: 05.025776.10.0001-1 RESPONSIBLE TOURISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Azulbahia delivers unique travel experiences vividly celebrating the natural surroundings and local culture in an ecologically responsible and sustainable way. We are aware that Tourism broadens the understanding, development and exchange of cultures. It also brings with it environmental, social and cultural impacts. Azulbahia defends a sustainable tourism that benefits tourists and natives equally, that respects and preserves the local environment, both cultural and natural. Follow some tenets for responsible travel formulated by the WTO (World Tourism Organisation) in its Code of Ethics on World Tourism - Travel to learn and experience, not to conquer - Show genuine sensitivity to the visited culture, understanding it in its context and avoid the creation of economic, social and religious barriers. - Respect the environment - Bring economic benefits to the visited communities The Atlantic Rainforest, that once covered the whole Brazilian coastline, is the second most diverse ecosystems on Earth with more than 25,000 species of tropical fauna and flora, and since 1991 a UNESCO Biospheric Reserve. Its destructions started during colonial times through the cut off of the so called pau brasil, which gave its name to the country. Later on, coffee, sugar, cotton and today soja and eucalyptus plantations have been responsible for the clearance of 93% of the Atlantic Rainforest. Nevertheless, it is still one of the most important biomass in terms of biodiversity, source of life, the heart and lung of our planet. But these lungs are disappearing at the same pace the CO2 and other greenhouse gas increase. Azulbahia collaborates with FirstFlora, dedicated to the protection and reforestation of the endangered Atlantic Rainforest. FirstFLora created Janaina Nature Reserve, nearly 300ha of primary Atlantic Rainforest in Itacaré, the south of Bahía, preventing illegal hunting and animal trade, trees and plants cut off and deforestation, incentivating scientific investigation,as well as the area’s reforestation. Furthermore, it works for the socioeconomic development of local communities. Visit www.firstflora.eu for more information.
