The kite sizes most frequently used are 7m, 9m and 12m. JERICOACOARA - Ceará The state of Ceará, has several hundred kilometers of untouched white sandy beaches, remote fishing villages, tropical temperatures and trade winds between July and December. These are usually reinforced with sea-breezes that blow side-onshore with winds averaging constant 20 to 30 knots daily, ideal kitesurfing. The 300 km of beach between Fortaleza, Cumbuco, Taiba and the Prea-Jericoacoara offer excellent spots for kite and the possibility to do one-of-a-kind downwind safaris. The bay of Preà extends between "Barinha" in the east and "Jericoacoara" in the west over a distance of more than 20km. The wind force in Preà lies in the yearly cut at aproximately 26 knots. Wind savest months are from July until February with a wind probability of 99,9%. From september to february the wind force lies mostly above 26 knots. Depending upon tide you will find on the water windwaves and choppy conditions at high tide as well as small windwaves and almost flat sections especially downwind the Pedra Baleia. With a good timing you also find small but clean kickers and further on heading towards Jericoacoara a breathtaking 15km downwind into the sunset. Waves normaly break 50meters of the bank and are running out clean and shallow to the beach. Positive for beginners is the far standing range. The local riders are usually are sailing with 11 or 12m kites in Cumbuco down to 7m to 9m kites in Jericoacoara. Cumbuco is a small fishing village 25 km north of Fortaleza. At one side the blue sea at the other side the massive sand dunes. for the houses. Street illumination still comes from the moon and the stars. Closest national/ international airport: Natal FLORIANÓPOLIS Bathed by forty two beaches, Florianopolis is a wonderful sight for the visitor. Situated on the Island of Santa Catarina, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina has a andscape sprinkled with lakes, sand dunes, forests and small islands all along the coast.Florianópolis is the perfect place for any sport involving wind and water. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that kitesurfing is growing at a fast pace with constant winds from all quadrants and water around. It’s a year-round kitesurfing destination, however, don’t expect anything like the wind statistics from up north (April-December almost 100 per cent), assume an average of three-to-four days of wind per week. Brazilian spring occurs September-December and is the best time to come, with stronger wind (usually kites 7–12 m2) and more reliable in terms of wind probability. Winter brings big swell often related to strong south wind (perfect for most wave spots), requiring you to fly kites 9-16 m2. In autumn (our winter) the wind is weaker and blowing from the north-northeast, ideal for kites 9-16 m2. The winter (our summer) is Floripa’s weakest wind time of the year, and when you’ll require 12-16 m2 kites. Despite these seasonal guidelines, the predominating wind directions are north-northeast and south-southeast and are moderate-to-strong in nature. The island offers a diversity of conditions from shallow lagoons to waves of all sizes, or you might want to test your endurance by going around the island. The most famous option is Lagoa da Conceição just a few minutes from our kitecamp headquarters! Ibiraquera beach (2 hour drive from the island), is considered one of the best places around for this sport. Minimum stay: 3 days. Closest international airport: Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro Closest national airport: Florianópolis
